When BlogRush came out there was quite the buzz going around the blogs about it. It was hyped as a way to draw in more traffic to your site by putting your latest headlines on other peoples blog sidebars.
There was a huge rush of people joining BlogRush at the beginning and there were also a lot of people out there trying to scam the system. After an initial flurry of good reports, then started the bad reports of how it really wasn’t all that helpful in drawing new traffic.
Things have settled down a bit for BlogRush and the developers over there are working very hard to eliminate fraud in the system, and they seem to be doing quite a good job at it.
Over on my personal blog, Bill Hutchison’s YWAM Blog, I have been running the BlogRush widget in the right sidebar for a while and it has started to bring in some traffic. The number 1 visited page through BlogRush is an article entitled YWAM Outreach Documentary on Mt. Isa Australia. The traffic numbers through BlogRush are not huge, but they seem to be steady and growing.
The key to getting people to visit your site through BlogRush is to write compelling and interesting headlines. The BlogRush widget only displays the headline of your article, so you need to grab their attention with the headline and make them interested in reading it.
BlogRush are now manually checking each and every blog that signs up for it to eliminate fraud. This may increase the time needed to sign up for BlogRush, but it could be worth signing up depending on your blog and the topics that you cover.
When you sign up you need to specify a topic or category for your blog to narrow down the type of posts that show up in the widget. It seems to be a pretty good system from what I can tell as all the headlines that show up in my widget seems to be pretty relevant.
