For the general user I don’t think that Safari now being available for Windows will be a very big deal. Although I only loaded it on my Windows XP machine yesterday I have already noticed a few “quirks” about it that will relegate it to my fourth choice of browser, after Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera.
Where I do see Safari being available on Windows to be big help for me is for web development. I now don’t have to have a Mac sitting on my desk just to test out how Safari renders web-sites. We have had trouble with web-sites working fine in Firefox and IE, but Safari having trouble, so this should help us to solve these sort of problems.
You can download the Safari 3 Public Beta from the Apple web-site, http://www.apple.com/safari/.
It will be interesting to see if this has any affect on browser numbers on our sites, but at least we will be able to better build our sites for cross-browser compatibility.
